The Chamber would like to congratulate Steven J. Machida, who has been named the new Public Works Director for the City of San Carlos.
Machida has over 32 years of Public Works experience having served in various capacities. He is leaving the position as Deputy Director of Public Works for the City of San Mateo to join the City of San Carlos. He also has worked for the cities of Milpitas, Lathrop, Morgan Hill and as a private consultant during his career. Machida is a Bay Area native, having attended U.C. Berkeley and graduating from San Jose State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Machida replaces Jay Walter, the former Public Works Director, who retired in December 2017.
“I am truly honored to be selected as the Public Works Director for the City of San Carlos,” stated Machida. “This is my dream job and it is a privilege to serve this wonderful community and its residents and I am ready to get to work.”
“We are pleased to have Steven join our team of talented staff here in San Carlos,” stated City Manager Jeff Maltbie. “Steven’s experience, collaborative approach and desire to work with the community will serve him well and I look forward to working with him.”
Machida will start Monday, April 16, 2018.
